Curated by Daniela Palazzoli
GLORIAMARIA gallery is delighted to present Pirate Paintings, a new collection of work by Miltos Manetas – curated by Daniela Palazzoli.
Stemming from his exhibition at the 53rd Venice Biennale, Manetas has crafted multiple worlds, within which exists the Embassy of Piracy. His goal is to represent the liberty of both the Internet and his pirates. The various works that comprise his Pirate Paintings consist of a continuing evolution of his artistic theme with pertinent novelties. On exhibit will be several oil paintings of various dimensions representing a unique subject – the Pirate vessel; each transmitting digital information via hardware incorporated in the artwork.
Art and technology. Two worlds which coexist in Manetas’ universe. Each attempting to uncover the other in a shared voyage of discovery – finding reciprocal inspiration in an unstructured common space. The creation of new languages and creative space.
